June 8 - Volunteers Wanted For LATAA Turkish School
Dear Members of the Los Angeles Turkish American Community,
Los Angeles Turkish American Association, LATAA, is planning to start Turkish classes in Fall 2009. We need two volunteers to teach Turkish to various age groups as listed below. The school is expected to run for 8 sessions on every other Saturday (16 weeks total) and each session will be a total of 2 hours. This will be an opportunity to interact with kids and adults of all ages who are willing to learn more about Turkish language, culture and history.
We believe, this is a great way to reach out primarily to the Turkish American community and people in Los Angeles who are interested in Turkish culture.

June 3 - LATAA Turkish School Graduation (2nd Semester)

May 19 - May 19th Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth & Sports Day
Dear LATAA Members,
Today marks the 90th anniversary of Turkey’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, escaping allied-occupied Istanbul and reaching the Anatolian heartland May 19, 1919, to start Turkey’s independence struggle towards the modern Republic of Turkey in 1923.
We would like to congratulate the Turkish American community on this important day and would like recognize the great sacrifices that our forefathers made in order for us to live in our motherland forever free.
